From Warehouse to Member Services: Abby Voung’s Journey at IPC
What inspired you to join IPC, and how has your journey evolved since then?
My family started in the warehouse, so it was my brother and my mom who worked in it, and then I ended up working in the warehouse too. So, I was there for about two years and then they posted the job for member services and then I applied and got it. So that’s how I’ve been with IPC. It was a great part-time job in the warehouse. Loved it. They treated everybody kindly and well, especially for being part-time. It was a great business. And so, the opportunity came to have a full-time position and I jumped for it.
What do you enjoy most about working with your colleagues and how has teamwork contributed to your success?
I love my team. They’re great. I think all of us have really meshed well together. We’ve got this great dynamic where everyone just clicks. The banter is top-notch, and when it comes to getting things done, we’re a well-oiled machine. We all respect each other and what we bring to the table. Especially in customer service, where let’s face it, not every call is sunshine and rainbows. But being able to blow off steam together? That’s priceless. Bottom line? We’re a tight-knit crew.
Can you share a project or accomplishment you’re particularly proud of during your time here?
A couple of years ago, we transitioned from $5 to $15 for returns and revamped this process. This change was significant for our customers, as they now had to pay more out of pocket. We focused on addressing this transition and implemented a new process in our warehouse’s returns department. If an item returned is no longer in resalable condition, we have a form in place. I collaborated with the team to create this form, which allows them to simply circle the relevant information, place it in the box, and return it to the customer if necessary. It’s an ongoing effort for me to continually improve this process.
Outside of work, what hobbies or activities are you passionate about?
I’ve got a furry friend at home, so I’ve set up my schedule to work four ten-hour days a week, giving me Wednesdays off to hang out with my dog. We’re big on hiking, so I try to make the most of our time together outdoors.
IPC just won Top Workplace for Innovation, Compensation & Benefits, Work-Life Flexibility, and Leadership. Which one of these categories resonates with you and why?
Work-Life Flexibility because IPC understands that employees have demands outside of work. I also appreciate that we still offer a hybrid work schedule. It makes working at IPC a little less stressful when you have unexpected events and can quickly adjust your schedule when needed.
