Your Pharmacy’s Survival Depends on You

This August, Invite Congress to See Your Pharmacy, Before It’s Too Late
Nobody gets into pharmacy for the politics; you became a pharmacist to serve your community, to know your patients by name, and to be the trusted health partner just around the corner.
But right now, politics is one of the most important things that can save your pharmacy.
We have been fighting for years for federal PBM reform. We’ve come heartbreakingly close too many times to see it come up short.
But we need you to hear this: We have never been closer to victory.
Congress returns from its August recess in September, and they have a narrow, critical window to pass the reforms we need to survive. The legislation is written. It has overwhelming bipartisan support. It will save taxpayers billions and, more importantly, save independent pharmacies like yours.
The only thing missing is the final, undeniable push from us in Independent Pharmacy.
The Mountain Top is in Sight, but We All Must Push
Think of this fight like Sisyphus pushing his boulder. For years, it’s felt like an endless, uphill battle against the immense power and influence of Pharmacy Benefit Managers. You’ve watched colleagues shutter their doors, crushed by predatory DIR fees, low reimbursements, and spread pricing.
But today, that boulder is at the very top of the hill. We are inches from the summit. With one, final, collective shove from our entire community, you can send it over the top and finally achieve the change you deserve.
This isn’t about partisan politics. It’s about patient care and the survival of a cornerstone of American healthcare. Powerful leaders in both the Senate and the House, hold the key to moving this legislation forward, either as a standalone bill or within a must-pass package.
They need to feel the pressure from every single one of us.
Your Most Powerful Weapon: Your Pharmacy

Emails and phone calls are vital, but nothing, nothing, is more powerful than showing a Member of Congress the reality of your situation.
This August, while they are home in their states and districts, we have a golden opportunity. You can invite them into your pharmacy and show them the faces of the employees whose jobs are on the line. You can introduce them to the seniors who rely on you for not just medications, but for advice, compassion, and a familiar face.
You can make the abstract, concrete. You can turn a “PBM problem” into a story about Mrs. Johnson from down the street who wouldn’t get her medication on time if you weren’t here.
This personal connection is what changes votes. It’s what moves legislation from the “maybe later” pile to the “must-pass now” list.
Your Simple, Critical Call to Action
The path forward is clear. The time for silence is over.

- Target Key Leadership: For those of you in critical states and districts, your voice is especially crucial. We need to ensure the leaders who can directly schedule a vote hear our message loud and clear.
- If you are in South Dakota, Illinois, New York, Oregon, Idaho, or Wyoming, your Senators (John Thune, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer, Ron Wyden, Mike Crapo, John Barrasso) are essential to moving Senate bills forward.
- If you are in NJ-06 – Frank Pallone, KY-02 – Brett Guthrie, MA-05 – Katherine Clark, LA-01 – Steve Scalise, LA-04 – Mike Johnson, or MN-06 – Tom Emmer, NY-09 – Hakeem Jeffries, Va-09 – Morgan Griffith, CO-01-Diane DeGette your Representatives hold the keys to the House of Representatives.
You didn’t sign up for this fight, but it’s here. Your community’s health, your employees’ livelihoods, and your life’s work depend on the actions you take right now.
Don’t let this moment pass. Invite them in. Tell your story.
Let’s give this boulder one final, mighty push together.
