IPC Director of Government Relations John Covello recently attended the Ohio Pharmacists Association annual conference in Columbus, Ohio. IPC was proud to sponsor OPA’s 2017 Annual Good Government Award. John Covello was able to present the award to Ohio Pharmacist Tara Green, R.Ph. Pharm D. in recognition of her outstanding service as a legislative advocate for bills enacted in Oho to expand the scope of services that Ohio pharmacists and pharmacies are able to provide their patients and strengthen their roles as critical health care providers in their communities.
John also spent time with Ohio State Rep. Scott Lipps (R-Franklin County) who is championing several legislative initiatives to end PBM abuses and impediments to better pharmacy care by IPC Ohio pharmacy members for their patients and communities. He was also fortunate to discuss independent pharmacy policy needs with OPA Past President and current Kentucky State Rep. Danny Bentley (R-Boyd & Greenup Counties).
Extremely informative sessions were produced by OPA on recent Ohio Pharmacy Law changes, new pharmacy payment opportunities, how to handle DIR fees and Specialty Drug designation procedures and Ohio pharmacy legislative agenda. IPC is proud of our partnership with OPA in advancing legislative victories in Ohio over the past few years. We look forward to working with OPA and other Ohio pharmacy stakeholders in pushing for more legislative remedies to PBM abuses and impediments to better pharmacy patient care in this current Ohio legislative session.
