Take Action Today! AB 315 is Set for Hearing April 4th
IPC is pleased to support AB 315, which would require that Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) be regulated by the California Board of Pharmacy. The bill is set for hearing on April 4th.
AB 315 is a critical first step in providing transparency on the PBM business model and how they contribute to healthcare costs. The role of PBMs has come under greater scrutiny at both the federal and state level because of increased drugs but to date, they are the only segment of the healthcare industry that is unregulated. This lack of oversight has led to higher costs for PBMs' clients (health plans), which in tum can increase premiums and copays for patients.
California is a leader in providing consumer protection by regulating businesses that directly affect the health and well-being of its residents. This bill would provide the state the opportunity to hold PBMs to the same standards. For these reasons, we respectfully request you SUPPORT AB 315. Contact your Assembly Member today and urge them to support AB 315.
