CARES Act Funding for Medicaid Providers

Jun 22, 2020
As a follow up to earlier messaging on Medicaid/CHIP provider relief funds, IPC has additional guidance for navigating the claim submission process.

According to Optum and CMS, pharmacists can take advantage of available funding for Medicaid providers, but need to meet certain requirements. Any pharmacy that received a Medicare Part B payment from the first CARES Act relief fund will not be eligible. The following steps should help to ensure a smooth process:

•    To determine your eligibility, go to the provider portal and enter your tax ID
•    If you get a rejection message select option 2
•    Ignore the 1st and 2nd prompts to enter TIN
•    When the next menu starts press 0 to speak with a customer service agent
•    You can also call the HHS Provider Relief hotline at 866-569-3522

Before applying through the enhanced provider relief portal, applicants should:

Read the Medicaid Provider Distribution Instructions - PDF*
Download the Medicaid Provider Distribution Application Form - PDF*

Upon submitting your information to the enhanced provider relief portal you will receive a confirmation email with additional information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Please let us know if you continue to have issues. You can reach out with questions or additional tips to the Government Relations Team at governmentrelations@ipcrx.com.
