While IPC’s Annual Business Meeting featured an address from Don Anderson, the presentation of IPC’s MVP award to Stapley Pharmacy of St. George, Utah; Board Election results; and, IPC Founder Mike Flint announced his retirement from the IPC board. It was a spectacular event and we look forward to next year!

Stapley Pharmacy (St. George, Utah) owner Jana Stapley earned IPC’s highest honor, the 2019 IPC Dan Moudry Most Valuable Pharmacy (MVP) award.

“It is an honor to be able to recognize the Stapleys for their exemplary leadership and dedication to independent pharmacy and their community,” said IPC President and CEO, Don Anderson. “Stapley Pharmacy is a shining example of not just a voice for independent pharmacy, but a community leader.”

Stapley Pharmacy has served the City of St. George and surrounding area for 40 years. Started by Evan and Faith Stapley, the pharmacy has a history of community involvement, an endeavor led by the late Brad Stapley. He went so far as to hire a full-time Director of Education who scheduled lectures and disseminated educational materials. Some of their efforts included; university sponsorships, 5K and other race involvement, and intense engagement with a local coalition to help the youth in middle and high schools understand the dangers of prescription and illicit drug abuse.

A recent tragedy has, however, dramatically changed the trajectory of Stapley Pharmacy. On February 7, 2019, owner Brad Stapley was unfortunately involved in a bizarre avalanche accident while snow-mobiling. The incident that took his life, left the ownership of the business in the capable hands of Brad’s wife, Jana Stapley. Brad’s kindness and desire to help others was well known in his community and his passing was felt throughout the St. George community.

“Being the recipient of this award is a powerful reminder of the influence we each have in our communities,” said owner Jana Stapley. “Stapley Pharmacy ends every advertisement in both print and radio with this quote, ‘Remember, your pharmacist is your most accessible health care professional.’ Stapley Pharmacy is not alone in our quest to make the world a healthier place. Partnership with IPC helps us maintain this effort and ultimately keep our patients as healthy as they want to be.”
