Dowd Drug in Guthrie Center, IA, celebrated its Grand Re-Opening event March 26-27. On top of navigating the pandemic in 2020, Dowd Drug suffered extensive fire damage in June, forcing the store to move into a temporary location across the street for eight months while the building was remodeled. Dowd Drug returned to its original location in February, holding its grand re-opening celebration about a month later. IPC was honored to sponsor this important event.
“It was a relief, we’re all happy to be back in our location,” owner Julie Priestley said.
There is also a silver lining in this. The new building allows Priestley and her staff to better serve customers, including COVID-19 vaccinations.
“We’re in a more functional space,” Priestly added.
IPC supported the event by providing coffee mugs and two raffle prizes, an Echo Show and Amazon Fire Tablet, and also organized a direct mail campaign to generate interest with nearby residents. Dowd Drug added pens, heart-shaped stress balls, in-store specials, and complimentary cupcakes to round out the event. More than 200 people attended the two-day celebration.
Dowd Drug is a full-service independent pharmacy located in downtown Guthrie Center, Iowa. Dowd Drug also offers a full gift department including Hallmark cards, toys and seasonal decor. Open six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
