October is American Pharmacists Month
Highlighting the Importance of Community Pharmacists

Pharmacists are important every month of the year, but each October we highlight your work as part of American Pharmacists month. Though this year looks a little different than most, you can still host a flu clinic or a medication check-up. This is also a great time to ask patients to share how you have helped them on social media or highlight some of your services yourself. Don’t forget, October 20 is Pharmacy Technician Day so be sure to acknowledge the hard work of your technicians.

A Quarter Century of  Pharmacy
Carrington Drug Celebrates 25 Years

A lot has changed in the world of pharmacy in the past 30 years. Matt Paulson has owned and operated Carrington Drug for more than 25 years now and has seen a lot change in the industry. Some of the biggest changes have come from the introduction of the internet. The internet altered how his business flowed and his conversations with patients as they gained access to readily available medical information. Paulson also shifted his pharmacy away from retail and has recently leaned into clinical services like vaccines.

What You Need to Know
Medicare Open Enrollment Has Started

The population of Medicare beneficiaries is increasing each year, by 2030 it is expected there will be more than 80 million. Pharmacists must take an active role during open enrollment to help their patients understand their plan options. It is also beneficial for pharmacists to equip themselves with the knowledge to help patients navigate their options. This can help both your pharmacy and patients save money.

Prosperity Health Celebrates Grand Opening
Time to Celebrate!
IPC Sponsors Two New Stores

IPC has proudly supported grand openings for two member stores since Labor Day, including the Grand Opening of Prosperity Health Pharmacy in Fargo, ND, on October 1!

During the event, about 100 attendees enjoyed free hot dogs, chips, and fresh gelato from nearby Carrington, ND. IPC donated a Kindle Fire and Echo Show along with 150 tote bags, which pharmacy staff then filled with goodies and coupons. They also invited a country radio station to broadcast live during the event, giving the new store some additional exposure!

“People really seemed to enjoy the giveaways IPC provided, a lot of people signed up for those,” said Virginia Howe, Prosperity Health Pharmacy owner.
