Pharmacist Will Douglas Runs for Texas House District 113
IPC recently spoke with Will Douglas, an active member currently running for public office in Texas. Will owns two pharmacies and has set them up so he can effectively campaign for office while maintaining both locations – Prescription Pharmacy and Cody Drug. If elected he hopes to provide insight to other legislators about issues like PBMs. He also wants to continue the tradition of championing small business in the state.
Advocating for independent pharmacy is simpler than ever with IPC’s new and improved Legislative Action Center powered by VoterVoice. With this software at your fingertips you will be able to learn about important bills related to PBM reform, vaccinations and other important topics. This system also makes it easy to communicate with your legislators. When you receive email action alerts from IPC you can reach out to your representatives with just one click and tell them whether you think they should offer theirsupport.
During the pandemic, pharmacies should take steps to minimize the risk of exposure for both pharmacy staff and their customers. By using the principles of infection prevention and control, pharmacy staff can protect themselves and others while serving their communities. New guidelines include face coverings for both staff and customers and postponement of some clinical preventative services requiring face to face encounters. Please review all of the CDC advice for pharmacies to ensure best practices are being used at your store.
We recently encouraged IPC members to take the #TeamIndependent Social Media Challenge! Gaston Pharmacy in NC (left) shared their idea to distribute COVID-19 essential kits to first responders in Gaston County. Scott City Health Mart in Scott City, KS (right) has shifted to curbside, drive-thru, or delivery for their customers. We love hearing what kind of extra precautions and creative adjustments you and your staff are doing to protect your patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Email email@example.com or post on one of our social sites using #TeamIndependent.
